Pass through fishing villages like Zambujeira do Mar and Almograve. Stop for a picnic lunch overlooking the Atlantic. From here, the “top of the cliff” perspective adds to the sense of privilege, as if nature quietly revealed a well kept secret.

Expect the unexpected. They say about traveling, so, do not be surprised when you see storks feeding their chicks on the edge of these imposing high cliffs.

An easy ride after lunch takes us to Zambujeira and Carvalhal beach followed by the delightful beach of Odeceixe. Dinner will be in town, with plenty of freshly caught seafood options.

No lack of variety: hills and ocean, valleys and beaches, rock roses and mango orchards. Lagos, from where Portuguese sailors gave “new worlds to the world” is one of the most interesting towns to visit in the Algarve.

TOUR GUIDES

Why choose to ride the Algarve?

Describing the obvious has always been a challenge, and letting you know why Portugal declared a vast portion of its coastline a Natural Park is no exception, hence, better than words is to come and witness our serpentine ride along the majestic coastal cliffs.

The dark rock, folded like dough in a child’s hands, is a live lesson of layers and pressure across geologic ages, and as we head south, seagulls, alcatraces and storks (the only place where you will find their nests on coastal cliffs) carry on their harmonious flights alongside us as we embark on this dynamic and unique bike ride.

Lighthouses announce the beginning and the end of the continent with their cyclopic “eye”. Sailors and fishermen criss cross the Atlantic as we imagine them centuries ago on their journeys to new worlds, and just like these adventurous sailors, we will be rewarded with warm welcomings at our charming hotels and houses.

The “all white” villages show us how traditional architecture can be beautiful, simple and comfortable, the same simplicity principle that dictates the excellence of Portuguese cuisine. Fresh, local ingredients, and Mediterranean creativity.
